Andrew Ward and Charles Ferraz join the Group of Boutique Asset Managers (GBAM)

Andrew Ward, CEO of Aubrey Capital Management, and Charles Ferraz, CEO of Itaú USA Asset Management, join the Group of Boutique Asset Managers (GBAM) to share business perspectives. GBAM is a global network of specialised, independent and like-minded asset managers who have come together to enhance their presence in international markets.


"This network is made up of specialist asset management companies that share ideas to strengthen their presence in international markets. Ward and Ferraz have joined forces to contribute their expertise and increase the presence of both the Group and its members in the investment sector," GBAM explains.


Andrew Ward has over eleven years' experience in asset management following a 22-year career in the British Army. In 2012, Andrew joined First State Investments from the British Army, where his last position was Commanding Officer of the Infantry Battle School. Andrew initially worked in First State Investments' EMEA Distribution team, before being promoted to Head of the Institutional Client Team at Stewart Investors (an independent branded division of First State Investments). He subsequently became Head of People at Stewart Investors, working across the business on a number of multi-disciplinary projects, before moving to Aubrey in January 2019.


Charles Ferraz brings more than twenty-six years of asset management experience in Brazil and the United States to GAM, having worked in São Paulo, Miami and New York. Ferraz began his career in asset management at BankBoston in 1997. In addition, as Managing Partner, Ferraz oversaw BankBoston's Asset Management unit.


Itaú acquired BankBoston in 2006, and Charles remained in the business, serving as Chief Investment Strategist at Itaú Private Bank (2006 – 2008), Chief Investment Officer at Banco Itaú Europa International's headquarters in Miami (2008 – 2010) and Chief Investment Officer at Itaú Private Bank Brazil (2010 – 2016).


In August 2016, Ferraz assumed the position of Chief Executive Officer of Itaú USA Asset Management in New York, responsible for Itaú Asset Management's operations and growth strategy in the United States. In addition to his executive role for Itaú USA Asset Management, he is the Global Head of Solutions for Itaú Asset Management, responsible for teams based in New York, Miami and Sao Paulo.
