The ruption in the relationship between the UK and EU turned to the area of EU budgets and taxation over the past week, as London and Brussels put out different figures on the final 'divorce' bill. This came on top of acknowledgement from the UK government that the Court of Justice of the EU is set to consider a case of duty fraud against itself from the time when the country was still a member state.
Then throw into the mix the proposals for a new approach to VAT on financial services in the single market, and the divergence could suddenly set up another challenge to those providing funds across borders from the EU into non-EU jurisdictions like the UK.
