BoE governor vs the judge

In a week when media and traders reported that Amsterdam stole a march on certain trading switching away from London, the real story of influence going forward may have been buried in ongoing parliamentary committee hearings.


The debate over Brexit and regulation in the UK might be set to head off in yet another direction, as a distinctly public argument between the governor of the Bank of England and a judge ratcheted up. The impact may currently be extremely peripheral to fund regulation, but it could yet take on more importance as the European Commission continues to withhold an equivalence decision in respect of UK financial services.
