As a leading spokesperson for MAPFRE AM, Luis is best known for his views on investment in publicly owned European football clubs, and how the investment landscape is shifting in professional sports more generally. Luis García Álvarez is an investment Fund Manager at MAPFRE and Co-Director of the Executive Program on Investment in Value and Behavioral Finance organized by ICADE Business School. In 2021 he was recognized with the RankiaPro Award for the Best Investment Fund Manager. It is rated by Citywire and Morningstar for its management results. He has a degree in Economics from the Francisco de Vitoria University and a master's degree in Economics and Finance from the Centre for Monetary and Financial Studies (CEMFI). In 2013 he was certified as a financial analyst by the CFA Institute (Virginia, USA). In addition, he has a Diploma in Value Investing from the Ben Graham Centre of the Ivey Business School (University of Western Ontario, Canada). Also in the academic section, he has presented his research at conferences organized by the University of Warsaw, the University of Munich, the Humboldt University (Berlin), the European Central Bank and the Spanish Finance Association.
